Additional information

After emission or evaporation to air the product is expected to be rapidly degraded by photochemical processes. In water, n-octyl methacrylate is inherent biodegradable. In contrast, abiotic degradation by hydrolysis is not expected to play a major role – the substance is stable at pH 4 and 7 and hydrolyses slowly at pH 9.

Available data indicate, that n-octyl methacrylate is not persistent in the environment.
