Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The toxicity of Orasol Black X51 to aquatic plants was investigated in a 7d growth test performed with duckweed (Lemna gibba) according to OECD TG 221 (BASF SE, 2017; Rep. no.: 63E0074/16E025). The ErL50 was determined to be >320 mg/L (nominal). It can be concluded, that the substance is with high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic plants.

Orasol Black X51 is strongly coloured. According to REACH guidance chapter R.7b (ECHA, 2017) the 7-d Lemna growth test avoids the problem since the fronds grow at the water surface.

Due to the 'difficult substance testing issues', the chemical safety assessment of Orasol Black X51 (e.g. classification, derivation of PNECs) is, therefore, based on the available data on aquatic plants other than algae (Lemna gibba, BASF SE, 2017; Rep. no.: 63E0074/16E025 in accordance with REACH guidance chapter R.7b (ECHA, 2017).
