Description of key information

Melting/Freezing Point.

15 ± 3 °C (288 ± 3 K), using the pour point method, designed to be compatible with Method A.1 Melting/Freezing Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 102 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.

Boiling Point.

Decomposed from approximately 242 °C (515 K) at 101.6 kPa by differential scanning calorimetry, designed to be compatible with Method A.2 Boiling Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 103 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 As a result of decomposition, no value for boiling point could be determined.

Density.

1.11 x 103 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C, relative density: 1.11, using the pycnometer method, designed to be compatible with Method A.3 Relative Density of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 109 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 02 October 2012.

Vapour Pressure

The vapor pressure of 4,4'-(1,3-Phenylenediisopropylidene) diphenylcyanate has been determinedto be 1.4 x 10-4Pa at 25 °C, using the vapor pressure balance method,designed to be compatible with Method A.4 Vapour Pressure of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 104 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 23 March 2006

Partition Coefficient (n-octanol/water).

 In the range 1.52 x 104to 6.11 x 104, log10Powin the range 4.18 to 4.79, using the HPLC method, designed to be compatible with Method A.8 Partition Coefficient of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 117 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 13 April 2004.

Water Solubility.

Less than or equal to 9.53 x 10-6g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C, using the flask method, designed to be compatible with Method A.6 Water Solubility of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.

Surface Tension.

The surface tension was not determined according to a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 115 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 since the water solubility was determined to be less than 1 mg/L. The method guidelines state that substances with a water solubility less than 1 mg/L need not be tested for surface tension.

Flash Point.

261 ± 2 °C, using a closed cup equilibrium method designed to be compatible with Method A.9 Flash Point of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases).

 504 ± 5 °C, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.15 Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Explosive Properties.

 Predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.14 Explosive Properties of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

Oxidising Properties (Liquids).

Predicted negative based on the chemical structure of the test item, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.21 Oxidising Properties (Liquids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.
