Hydrolysis

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII, Section 9.2.2.1., no study on hydrolysis needs to be conducted, if the substance is readily biodegradable. Since the ready biodegradability of the test substance was proven (please refer to IUCLID section 5.2.1), an experimental investigation of its hydrolytic properties was not considered necessary.

 

Biodegradation

Biodegradation in water: screening test

In a key study the ready biodegradability of the test substance was determined according to the EEC-Directive 92/69 (1992); equivalent to OECD Guideline 301 A (1993) and ISO Standard 7827 (1994). The biodegradation degree (DOC removal) after 28 days was determined to be 80 – 90 %. The test substance was considered to be readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

 

Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation tests

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.4., no study on biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation tests, needs to be conducted, if the substance is readily biodegradable, or if direct and indirect exposure of sediment is unlikely. Since the ready biodegradability of the test substance was proven (please refer to IUCLID section 5.2.1), an experimental investigation on biodegradation of the test substance in water and sediment was not considered necessary.

 

Biodegradation in soil

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.2.1.3., no study on biodegradation in soil needs to be conducted, if the substance is readily biodegradable, or if direct and indirect exposure of soil is unlikely. Since the ready biodegradability of the test substance was proven (please refer to IUCLID section 5.2.1), an experimental investigation on biodegradation of the test substance in soil was not considered necessary.

 

 

Bioaccumulation

Bioaccumulation: aquatic/sediment

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex IX, Section 9.3.2., no study on bioaccumulation needs to be conducted, if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation (for instance a log Kow ≤ 3). Since the log Kow of the test substance was calculated to be - 5.71, an experimental investigation of its bioaccumulation properties was not considered necessary.

 

Transport and distribution

Adsorption/desorption

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII, Section 9.3.1, no study on adsorption/desorption needs to be conducted, if the substance and its relevant degradation products decompose rapidly or based on the physicochemical properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption. Since the ready biodegradability of the test substance was proven (please refer to IUCLID section 5.2.1) and its log Kow was calculated to be - 5.71, an experimental investigation on adsorption/desorption was not considered necessary.
