Study design

Oxygen conditions:
aerobic
Inoculum or test system:
activated sludge, non-adapted
Details on inoculum:
The sludge was taken from the activation basin of the ESN (Stadtentsorgung Neustadt) sewage treatment plant, im Altenschemel, NW-Lachen-Speyerdorf.
Date of collection: 2007-11-09, batch no. 09112007
The sludge was filtered, washed with tap water twice, then washed with and re-suspended in test medium. It was then aerated. The dry mateer was determined with 4180 mg/L suspendid solids per litre.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Interpretation of results:
other: not readily biodegradable
Remarks:
biodegradable but missing 10days window
Conclusions:
The test item / SAT-No. 060283 was tested following OECD 301B and EU-Method C.4-C.
The following data were determined for the test item / SAT-No. 060283:
degradation at the end of the 10days window 41%
degradation at the end of the test (28 days) 76%
Therefore, when applying the 10-day-window, test item / SAT-No. 060283 is not readily biodegradable following OECD 301B / EU C.4-C.
As degradation was >60% at the end of the test, test item / SAT-No. 060283 can be considered as biodegradable.
Executive summary:

The test item / SAT-No. 060283 was tested following OECD 301B and EU-Method C.4-C.

The following data were determined for the test item / SAT-No. 060283:

degradation at the end of the 10days window       41%

degradation at the end of the test (28 days)       76%

Therefore, when applying the 10-day-window, test item / SAT-No. 060283 is not readily biodegradable following OECD 301B / EU C.4-C.

As degradation was >60% at the end of the test, test item / SAT-No. 060283 can be considered as biodegradable.
