Administrative data

First-aid measures

General: remove the victims from the danger area; seek immediate medical assistance; show the specific MSDS to the physicians; treat simptomatically. Wear protective equipment for eyes, skin, breathing apparatus.
If inhaled: remove the victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position confortable for breathing. If breathing difficulties persist due to accidental inhalation of dust, vapours, aerosols or combustion fumes, provide oxygen and/or artificial respiration. Seek medical assistance.
If in eyes: rinse cautiously and thoroughly with plenty of water. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do; continue rinsing. If eyes irritation persists, get medical assistance.
If on skin and clothes: remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Wash clothing before re-use.
If ingested: Contact immediately a POISON CENTER or a doctor. Rinse repeatedly the mouth with water without swallowing. Do not induce vomiting or administer anything without medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

General: avoid formation of aerosols; prevent formation of electrostatic charges or contact with other ignition sources.
Extinguishing media: foam, water spray, carbon dioxide, chemical powder. Do not use water in proximity of electrical apparatus.
Danger in case of fire: possible evolution of toxic/corrosive fumes of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, hydrochloric acid.
Protective device for fire-fighting people: protetcive device/clothing for head, hands, skin and eyes. Self-contained breathing apparatus.
Fire-fighting water/media and fire residues must be disposed as hazardous wastes. in compliance with current Regulations.

Accidental release measures

General: do not allow unprotected people in the area; send away those who are not in charge to manage the issue. Use PPE as adequate for eyes, skin and breathing apparatus. Prevent contact with ignition sources.
Environmental: prevent dispersed material to reach sewers and water courses.
Methods for cleaning up: use inert absorbents (sand, kieselgur,,,); collect mechanically the released material and dispose according to waste handling procedures, Ventilate the area, if proper; if necessary wash with water disposing the resulting liquid as hazardous waste.

Handling and storage

General: the substance is stable in normal storage conditions, however, as a precautionary measure, store in a fresh, dry and well ventilated area. Use local exhaust during charging/discharging and when collecting samples.
Emissions: captured air and process emissions should be properly handled before immission in atmosphere (gaseous emissions purification system).
Waste: waste deriving from activities involving the substance should be considered hazardous and handled as such.
Storage Store in well closed, leakproof containers in well ventilated, dedicated area. Prevent/protect from contact with electrostatic charges or other ignition sources. Avoid moisture, light exposition and proximity with incompatible materials (strong acid and bases, oxidants).
Further measures: as additional, redundant protection measures, workers should wear proper PPE for skin (overalls), hands (gloves), eyes (googles) and breathing apparatus (mask) when handling the substance. Strictly follow directions for use, cleaning and maintenance reported by the supplier for each kind of PPE. Wash accurately before re-use.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The substance is not transported ouside the site: the whole manufactured quantity is stored and used in short time to synthetize fine chemicals (APIs)-please refer to the specific section.
A periodical check of workers exposition to the substance is carried out. Qualified personnel evaluates the results in order to implement further prevention/protection measures, if proper.

Stability and reactivity

Stable under normal conditions of use.
Conditions to avoid: very high temperatures could origin decomposition with emission of toxic/irritating/corrosive fumes.
Thermal decomposition could result in emission of oxides of Carbon and Nitrogen and of Hydrochloric acid.
Materials to avoid: strong acid and bases; oxidizing agents. Light exposure causes darkening of the substance.

Disposal considerations

Strictly observe all local, regional, national and international environmental Regulations. Wastes deriving from handling/using the substance should be considered as hazardous and disposed as such. Containers should be handled in the same way.
Disposal of waste: keep in well closed containers and send waste (including contaminated containers) to authorized companies for disposal,
