Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
surface tension
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 115 (Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
plate method
Key result
Surface tension:
70.1 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: 90% of the saturation concentration

Results of duplicate measurements were:

#1 69.33 ± 0.07 mN/m

#2 70.67 ± 0.08 mN/m

Taking into account the different values and their nominal uncertainty, the uncertainty of the mean

value (70.1 mN/m) is estimated as 0.7 mN/m.

The solution was 2 hours old before filtration. The dilution took place 2 hours after filtration and the subsequent measurement started 10 minutes after dilution.

Conclusions:
The surface tension at 90% of the saturation and 20 °C is 70.1± 0.7 mN/m.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of the test substance was determined according to OECD Guideline 115 with the plate method.

The surface tension at 90% of the saturation and 20 °C is 70.1± 0.7 mN/m.

Description of key information
