Key result
Type:
relative density
Density:
899.3 kg/m³
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
other: final result (mean value of two independent determinations) - relative density at 20 °C in reference with water at 4 °C

Results of two determinations are reported in the following table:

     Measurement           Determination
 2
  Temperature (°C)  20.0 20.0
Mass of the empty pycnometer (g)  31.43825 31.43825
Mass of the pycnometer filled with ultrapure water (g)  81.47120 81.47120
Mass of the pycnometer filled with the test item (g)  76.50421 76.51118
Density of the test item (kg/m3)  899.2 899.4
  Mean Density (kg/m3)     899.3

The two determinations are within the validity criteria of the method: (less than 1% of difference).

No additional determination was performed.

Conclusions:
The relative density at 20°C of 7-METHOXY-3,7-DIMETHYLOCTAN-2-OL MULTICONSTITUENT is 0.8993.
Executive summary:

A study was performed to determine the density of the test item 7 -METHOXY-3,7 -DIMETHYLOCTAN-2 -OL MULTICONSTITUENT. The method followed was designed to be compliant with the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No.109, ''Density of Liquids and Solids'' and the Method A.3 of Commission Regulation No. 440/2008, ''Relative Density''. .

In this method, the density is determined at a specific temperature using a pycnometer.

Density is calculated from the difference in weight between the full and the empty pycnometer and its volume. The pycnometer volume is determined by carrying out the experiment at the selected temperature with the quantity of ultrapure water required to fill the pycnometer.

Two trials were conducted.

The following results were obtained:

 Trial  Density (kg/m3) at 20.0 +/-0.1°C
 1 899.2
 2  899.4
 Mean  899.3

These values respect validity criteria (less than 1% of difference). Moreover, the bath used to maintain the pycnometer at 20°C did not vary by more than 0.1°C.

The density of the test item was determined to be 899.3 kg/m3 at 20.0 +/-0.1°C (mean value of two independant determinations).

The relative density of the test item was determined to be D204 = 0.899

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
0.899

Additional information

The relative density of 7-METHOXY-3,7-DIMETHYLOCTAN-2-OL MULTICONSTITUENT at 20°C was determined in a study performed according to OECD Guideline 109 and EU method A3 by pycnometer method. Therefore, a reliability of 1 is assigned and the result of this key study is proposed as the end point value.
