Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance was not readily biodegradable under the conditions of the closed bottle test presently performed. The low (negative) degradation values may have been cause by toxicity of the test substance to bacteria present in the inoculum.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Type of water:
freshwater

Additional information

The test substance was tested for its ready biodegradability in the closed bottle test at nominal concentration of 1 and 3 mg/l.

The theoretical oxygen demand (ThOD) of the test substance was determined to be 1.695 mg O2/mg.

After 28 days of incubation negative biodegradation was recorded at both concentrations of test substance: -40% and -13% fort he low and the high concentration respectively. The test substance was not readily biodegradable under the conditions of the closed bottle test presently performed. the low (negative) degradation values may have been cause by toxicity of the test substance to bacteria present in the inoculum.

Under the same conditions sodium acetate was degraded by more than 60%.
