Description of key information

This study was designed to determine the effects of the test item on the growth of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata in a 72-hour test according to the OECD 201 Guideline. The tests solutions were prepared from dilutions of a stock solution. Tested concentrations were 9.5 ; 17.1 ; 30.9 ; 55.6 ; 100 mg/l nominal. pH was adjusted where relevant to fall within pH 7-8 range. Test concentrations were analytically monitored.

The results are reported as growth rate. The concentrations that result in a 10 and 50% reduction in growth rate (72h-ErC10 and 72h-ErC50, respectively) were determined.

Chemical analysis of test samples taken indicated that measured concentrations of the test item remained within 80-120% of the nominal concentrations and were maintained over the 72h test period (i.e. deviation <20%). Based on these results, the exposure concentrations were based on nominal concentrations:

72h-ErC10 = 16.8 mg/L

72h-ErC50 = 35.0 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
35 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
16.8 mg/L
