The partition coefficient (log Pow) of the substance hydroxyethyl-p-phenylenediamine sulfate (Betoxol II) was determined to be 0.24 at 20 deg C.

The partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) of Betoxol II was determined according to OECD guideline 117. The test was conducted with a concentration of 10mg/L in a mobile phase consisting of 50v/v% methanol : 50v/v% 0.01M KH2PO4 (pH 9). Samples of the test item were analysed in duplicate by HPLC using a C18 column with UV detection. Calibration was performed using six of seven reference items with known log Pow values (given by the guidelines), each with a nominal concentration of 10mg/L in mobile phase. Void time of the HPLC system was determined threefold using 10mg/L sodium nitrate in mobile phase. The partition coefficient (log Pow) of the substance hydroxyethyl-p-phenylenediamine sulfate (Betoxol II) was determined to be 0.24 at 20 deg C.
