Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Test on three trophic levels are available. The LC/EC50 for all tests was > 98 mg/L

In a test according to OECD 203 (semi static with renewal every 24 hours, Envigo 2017), 7 rainbow trouts/concentration were exposed during 96 hours to 0 and 98 mg/L of the substance. The measured concentrations were between 98 and 99% of nominal. No mortality was observed at 1, 3, 6, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after the start of exposure in controls and at 98 mg/L. A slight staining on the fins and around the mouth was observed in fish exposed at 98 mg/L. The LC50 is therefore > 98 mg/L.

In a static test according to OECD 202 20 daphnids/concentration were exposed to 0, 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 % of a saturated solution in Elendt M7 medium. Measured concentrations at 0, 50 and 100% were at 0 and 48 h: <LOQ and < LOQ (control), 48.7 and 48.9 mg/L (50%)  and 98.3 and 99.2 mg/L (100%). At 100% 2/20 daphnids were found immobilised at the 48 hour observation. As this finding is within the criteria for a valid control (immobilisation maximum 10%), the NOEC is set at 98 mg/L (initial concentration). The 48 h EC50 for daphnia magna is >98 mg/L.

Lemna minor was exposed to an aqueous solution of the substance at concentrations of 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32 and 100 mg/L (three replicate flasks per concentration) for a period of 7 days, under constant illumination at a temperature of  24 ± 1 °C.  The number of fronds in each control and treatment group was recorded on days 0, 3, 5 and 7 along with observations on plant development. Measured concentrations were 71 -103% of nominal. Effects on yield and growth rate were observed at 32 mg/L based on frond count and at 10 mg/L based on dry weight. The EC50 is > 100 mg/L and the NOEC is 3.2 mg/L (worst case on dry weight).

In a study according to OECD 209 (with 30 min exposure period) the substance did not inhibit the respiration of sludge at concentrations up to 10000 mg/L (Bayer 1998). When corrected for the active ingredient the EC50 is >500 mg/L. The NOEC is 500 mg/L (based on a.i.)

Additional information

The starting point for the derivation of the PNECwater will be 98 mg/L. No sensitivity difference between the species tested was observed.

The starting point for the derivation of the PNEC STP will be the EC50 of 500 mg/L
