Conclusion on classification

Short-term aquatic toxicity data are available for three trophic levels (fish, invertebrates and algae). The acute effect values for fish (Danio rerio), daphnids and algae (Daphnia magna and Desmodesmus subspicatus) are 4.0 mg/L, 43.2 mg/L and 60 mg/L, respectively. The substance does not need to be classified for acute aquatic hazard.

Long-term aquatic toxicity data are available only for aquatic algae for which an ErC10 of 26 mg/L was determined. Based on the chronic data (ErC10 of 26 mg/L) and the substance’ non-readily biodegradability, the substance does not need to be classified. As only one reliable long-term toxicity endpoint is available, chronic classification needs to be based on both chronic and acute data of which the most stringent outcome is used for the final classification. Regarding acute data (lowest acute effect value in the range of 1 - 10 mg/L), the substance being not readily biodegradable and a log Kow of 3.9 (no experimental BCF is available) the substance needs to be classified as Aquatic Chronic 2. Therefore, based on short-term toxicity data, the substance is classified as Aquatic Chronic 2 (H411) according to EU CLP (EC1272/2008 and its updates.
