Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The toxicity of Orasol Black Pink 478 (CAS 97862-65-2) to aquatic plants was investigated in a 7d growth test performed with duckweed (Lemna gibba) according to OECD TG 221 (BASF SE, 2017; Rep. no.: 63E0059/16E027). The 7d ErL50 was determined to be >3.2 mg/L (nominal); the 7d ErL10 was determined to be 0.629 (nominal) based on frond number (7d ErL10, nominal: 0.543 mg/L if based on dry weight).

Considering a worst-case scenario based on the available measured value (7d ErL50 > 3.2 mg/L, BASF SE, 2017; Rep. no.: 63E0059/16E027) the substance should be assessed as acutely toxic to aquatic plants.

However, it should be noted the Orasol Pink 478 (CAS 97862-65-2) is a poorly water soluble substance (6.23 ± 0.03 mg/L at a loading rate of 0.1 g/L; 33.0 ± 0.3 mg/L at a loading rate of 1.0 g/L). Considering the experimentally determined EC/EL50 value of >3.2 mg/L there is a probability that the ErL50 is above the water-solubility limit of the substance. However, based on a worst case approach, the substance is assessed to be acutely toxic to aquatic plants.
