Conclusion on classification

Based on the studies available with the butyl carbamate as well as the read across substance, methyl carbamate, fish was identified as the most sensitive species with 96 h LC50 of 350 mg/L (based on nominal concentrations; see section 7.1.1). The single long-term toxicity equivalent data available from the read across study, from methyl carbamate in algae, was higher than 1 mg/L. Furthermore, butyl carbamate is considered inherently biodegradable with a log Kow below 4 (max 2.7; see Section 1.3). Therefore, the test substance is not classified for the environment according to CLP (EC 1271/2008) criteria.
