- one oxygen in a furan ring

- one oxygen in a keto group

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
T002102 is not capable of causing fire or enhancing the risk of fire when in contact with combustible material.

Description of key information

The oxidizing properties were screened based on the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (Orange Book, 3rd edition, 1999) (RCC Ltd, 2001). Applying the internationally recognized UN Recommendation criteria, the substance is found to be non-oxidizing and therefore is not to be tested experimentally for the classification under division 5.1 as oxidizing substances. Thus it can be concluded beyond a reasonable doubt that the substance is not capable of causing fire or enhancing the risk of fire when in contact with combustible material.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

The second criterion of the internationally recognized UN Recommandation is applied in the case due to the presence of the following configuration between oxygen and other atoms:

- one oxygen in a methoxy group bonded to an aromatic ring

- one oxygen in a furan ring

- one oxygen in a keto group

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance needs not to be classified as an oxidising substance as based on the chemical structure the substance does not contain any chemical groups indicating oxidising properties.
