Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Description of first-aid measures
If inhaled: Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
In case of skin contact: Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid.
In case of eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid.
If swallowed: If conscious and alert, rinse mouth. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid. Do not induce vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder or appropriate foam. Water spray.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: Straight streams of water.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions.
Special fire-fighting procedures: The container is moved to the place of safety promptly for a fire in the surrounding. When it is not possible to move, cool by spraying with water.
Protection of firefighters: Use appropriate personal protective equipment. Keep upwind.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Use appropriate personal protective equipment. Keep upwind.
Environmental precautions: It takes care that a leakage material and washing waste fluid are not directly discharged by the river etc.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up: Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth), then place in suitable container.
Further information: Provide ventilation. Remove all ignition sources.

Handling and storage

Technical measures:
Use adequate ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.
Use process enclosure, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls.
Install safety shower and eyewashing facilities for emergency near the handling place.

Precautions for safe handling:
Do not breathe vapour, mist. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Keep upwind.

Incompatibilities: Avoid contact with incompatible materials.
Hygiene measures: Install facilities such as hand and eye wash stations. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Storage:
Conditions for safe storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Store protected from light.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters
Exposure limits: Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit value.

Exposure controls
Transported isolated intermediate, to be used only under strictly controlled conditions as specified in Article 18 of Regulation 1907/2006/EC (REACH)
(a) The substance is rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle including manufacture, purification, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, sampling, analysis, loading and unloading of equipment or vessels, waste disposal or purification and storage.
(b) Procedural and control technologies shall be used that minimise emission and any resulting exposure;
(c) Only properly trained and authorised personnel handle the substance:
(d) In case of cleaning and maintenance works, special procedures such as purging and washing are applied before the system is opened and entered.
(e) In case of accidental and where waste is generated, procedural and/or control technologies are used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposure purification or cleaning and maintenance procedures;
(f) Substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator.

1. Technical protection measures
The usual precautionary measures are to be adhered to when handling this chemical.
Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and food. Immediately remove all soiled and contaminated clothing. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.
2. Respiratory protection; In case of brief exposure or low pollution, use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device.
3. Hand protection
- Protective gloves: The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/the substance/the preparation. Due to missing tests no recommendation to the glove material can be given for the product/the substance/the preparation.
Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and degradation.
- Material of gloves: The selection of the glove material does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacture to manufacture.
- Penetration time of glove material; The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.
4. Eye protection; Safety glasses with side shield or tightly fitting safety goggles. Face shield if necessary.
5. Body protection; Long sleeved clothing.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Not self-reactive
Chemical stability: Stable under normal temperatures and pressures.
Possibility of hazardous reactions: No information.
Conditions to avoid: Ignition sources, excess heat.
Incompatible materials: Alkali metal salts, strong oxidizing agent, strong bases, metals.
Hazardous decomposition products: Hydrogen iodide.
Other information: May decompose or discolor on exposure to light.

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues/unused products; dispose of as hazardous waste in compliance with local and national regulations.
Contaminated packing; Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.
