Biodegradation in water: not readily biodegradable (OECD 301F)

Bioaccumulation: no potential to bioaccumulate; log Kow = 1.9 at pH 2 and 25 °C (OECD 107), log D = ca. 1.0, ca. -1.9, and ca. -3.9 (at pH 4, 7, and 9)

Water solubility: 64.2 g/L at 20 ºC (OECD 105)

 

Acute toxicity:

- For fish: 96 h LC50 (Oncorhynchus mykiss) > 100 mg/L (nominal, OECD 203)

- For invertebrates: 48 h EC50 (Daphnia magna, immobilization) > 100 mg/L (nominal, OECD 202)

- For algae: 72 h ErC50 (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) = 5.3 mg/L (mean measured, OECD 201)

Classification justification according to CLP

Based on the data above, the substance is considered to be not readily biodegradable and has a low potential for bioaccumulation. The most sensible acute aquatic toxicity L(E)C50 is 5.3 mg/L for algae. Valid chronic toxicity data are available for algae, with a NOEC of 1 mg/L. As detailed in the Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria, section 4.1.3.3.1 (ECHA, 2015), and according to the Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) and the Regulation (EU) No. 487/2013 (4th ATP), the test substance needs to be classified and labeled as environmental hazard Chronic Cat. 2.
