Executive summary:

The toxicity of 4-nitrotoluene towards the algae Chlorella pyrenoidosa was tested according to the OECD Guideline 201 with slight modifications according to van Leeuwen et al. (1985). The EC50 (96 h) for growth inhibition was determined to be 22 mg/L (Maas-Diepeveen et al., 1986).
