Description of key information

After evaporation or exposure to the air, the product will be slowly degraded by photochemical processes with OH-radicals.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
8 d

Additional information

Atkinson et al. performed a test on photodegradation of 3 -pentanone using a all-Teflon chamber and OH radicals as sensitizer..
A rate constant of 2.05E-12 cm³/molecule*sec at 23 +/- 2 °C was measured. Calculated for a 24
h day an a assumed OH radical concentration of 500000 molecules/cm³ a half-life in the atmosphere of
7.82 days was calculated.
