Additional information

As no information on Basic Blue 26 leuco was available, the assessment on toxicity to aquatic algae relied on data on its structural analogues, i.e. Similar Substance 02 and Similar Substance 03. Details on the read across approach are attached in section 13.

The study on Similar Substance 02 was conducted based on DIN 38412, part 9. The composition of test substance was not available.

Algal cells were exposed for 96 hours to test substance concentrations of: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 mg/l for up to 96 h; levels showing 50 % of effect in terms of growth rate and cell count were found to be 2.91 and 1.65 mg/l, respectively.

As for the study on Similar Substance 03, only few details were available but based on the results upon a 72-hour exposure, the 50 % of effect in terms of growth rate was found at a concentration of 3.6 mg/l.
