Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Estimation of the adsorption coefficient (KOC) on soil and sewage sludge (Method C.19):
log Koc (soil) = 3.0 +/- 0.4 (pH = 6.2, 25°C)
log Koc (sludge) = 3.2 +/- 0.8 (pH = 6.2, 25°C)
Estimation of log Koc using KOCWIN v2.00:
log Koc = 3.700 (Koc = 5012)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The distribution between the organic phase of soil or sediments and the pore water was estimated using a KOCWIN v 2.00. The soil adsorption coefficient of AQwas estimated to be 5012 L/kg - Kow method (Log Koc = 3.700 for anthraquinone) (Ekotoxikologické centrum Bratislava, s.r.o., 2010).

The adsorption coefficient of Anthraquinone on soil and on sewage sludge was also estimated using the HPLC method with reference compounds in GLP study (Čížek K., Ph.D., 2010). The test was performed according to the Method C.19 Estimation of the adsorption coefficient (KOC) on soil and sewage sludge using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, Published in O.J.L 142, 2008.

Estimation of the adsorption coefficient (Koc) on soil and sewage sludge is log Kocsoil= 3.0 ± 0.4 at pH = 6.2 and 25°C and log Kocsludge= 3.2 ± 0.8 at pH = 6.2 and 25°C (Čížek K., Ph.D., 2010).
