No information concerning effects on soil organisms are available for the UVCB. However, since the hazard assessment reveals no need to classify the UVCB and its main constituents as dangerous for the environment.

The adsorption potential was assessed based on estimated adsorption coefficients. While the log Koc for the charged molecule of triethanolamine (CAS 102-71-6) indicate that adsorption to the solid soil phase is to be expected, the other constituents do not adsorb. Based on a pH-corrected Koc calculated for the charged substance, adsorption is to be expected for the main constituent CAS 102-71-6 (typical conc. 86%); however, triethanolamine is readily biodegradable in freshwater. The other two main constituents (CAS 17626-34-5, 55468-09-2) are not expected to adsorb at pH 7 (log Koc < 3).

In addition, significant bioaccumulation is not expected for the three main constituents of the UVCB. Following the distribution modelling (IUCLID Ch. 5.4.3), a relevant distribution into the soil compartment and a considerable exposure of soil organisms is not expected (compartment water: 100%). Additionally the UVCB is readily biodegradable. Hence, information about effects on soil organisms is not required and the equilibrium partitioning method has been used for PNEC derivation.
