Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

mmt is not bioaccumulative (B) or very bioaccumulative (vB).

In order to simulate different aquatic environments, four aquariums were established: one with water only, another with freshwater and sediments, one with aquatic plants and the last with fish. The concentration factor in the sediment was in the order of 3.4, located at the surface of the sediment, as expected. In the case of the aquatic plants and the fish, the bioconcentration factor was on the order of 400 and 200, respectively, with maximum values reached after 24 hours.

The experimentally-derived value of log Kow for mmt is 3.4, which is well below the threshold of 4.5 for a substance to be screened as B.

Further, QSAR estimation of BCF using US EPA's BCFBAF (v3.01) range from 128 to 333 L/kg, order of magnitude lower than the criterion for B under REACH (2000 L/kg).

Thus, based on the weight of evidence, mmt is not bioaccumulative (B) or very bioaccumulative (vB).
