Description of key information

Reliable acute studies based on international guidelines are available for the two aquatic trophic levels (aquatic invertebrate and algae) to assess the toxicity of the test substance.

No acute toxic effect of the test substance to the aquatic invertebrate Daphnia magna has been determined, with 0% of immobilization for the limit test concentration of 100 mg/L. Thus, the 48h-EC50 is higher than 100 mg/L (the highest tested concentration)

In the study assessing the acute toxicity of the test substance to the algae P. subcapitata, the 72 h ErC50 was determined to be > 1050 mg/L (higest tested concentration)

Additional information

Justification for non classification as hazardous for environment:

Hydrophilic substance.

Acute aquatic toxicity data EC50 > 100 mg/L.

No adequate chronic toxicity data available.

Log kow < 0.3, indicating low potential for bioaccumulation.

> 80% degradation in 28 days based on ThODNH4 and ThODNO3 indicating that it fulfils the criteria for rapid degradation.

Acute (short-term) aquatic hazard: not classified.

Long-term aquatic hazard: not classified.
