Additional information

Sodium permanganate is an inorganic material and is readily dissolved and dissociated into sodium and permanganate ions in water. The sodium ion is naturally occurring and ubiquitous.

Potassium permanganate is stable to hydrolysis at pH 4, 7 and 9 with a half life of greater than 1 year at a temperature of 25°C.

The permanganate ion is an inorganic substance and therefore biodegradability tests have not been conducted.

The permanganate ion is expected to have a low potential to accumulate in living organisms.

The permanganate ion has a low Log P value and therefore the substance is expected to have a low adsorption to soil and sediment.
