Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Three tests were available, the UN 2(a), 2(b) and 2(c)i tests.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

All three tests, viz. the UN gap test (alternative test), the Koenen test and the Time/Pressure test were negative, indicating that GLDA-Na4 has no explosive properties. Although these tests differ from the EU test (EU A14), it was clear that the exothermic heat was 123 J/g, which is below the value of 500 J/g and therefore can be considered non-explosive. Also based on the molecular structure of GLDA-Na4 it is not expected that GLDA-Na4 would have explosive properties. Finally, EU A14 tests carried out with other chelating agents such as DTPA-Na5, EDTA-MnNa2 and EDTA-FeNa) did not show explosive properties either.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the data indicated above, it was concluded that GLDA-Na4 has no explosive properties and as such classification is not warranted.
