Boiling point: HMDTMP (4-7K) will undergo thermal decomposition without boiling.
The requirement to test the boiling point of HMDTMP (4-7K) was waived because the substance decomposes without boiling. This statement is supported by the evidence from a DSC study which demonstrates that the anhydrous form of the parent acid (HMDTMP-H) undergoes thermal decomposition from approximately 200°C. See melting point study reported in Section 4.2. Salts would be expected to undergo thermal decomposition in the same way as the parent substance.
In available secondary sources to which no reliability could be assigned, the HMDTMP (4 -7K) was reported to have boiling temperature values of approximately 100°C, 105-108°C and >100°C; these are assumed to relate to the aqueous solution of the substance. A decomposition temperature of >200°C following the evaporation of water were reported for HMDTMP (4-7K).
