other: Melting point of the main phase detected at approx. 10 °C; melting point of the minor phase detected at approx. 6 °C. The atmospheric pressure is assumed to be normal.


The cooling curve exhibits a broad, not very sharp exothermic crystallization peak with multiple maxima between -3 and -10 °C.


Upon heating the heat flow curve shows an endothermic double-phase melting peak.

Minor part: 6 °C (extrapolated onset temperature); 8 °C (maximum temperature)

Major part: 10 °C (extrapolated onset temperature); 15/16 °C (maximum temperature)


It is to be noted that crystallization processes are often impaired by supercooling, due to a kinetic delay of the transformation caused by inhibited nucleation. Thus the measured transformation temperature does not necessarily correspond to the thermodynamic equilibrium temperature, but is strongly dependent on the thermal history of the sample and the applied cooling rate. Therefore cooling and heating cycle yield different enthalpy profiles.
