Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Based on Initial Loading rate concentrations, the 72-hour EyC50, EbC50 and ErC50 values were calculated to be 48.9, 47.6 and >100 mg/L. The corresponding NOEC values for yield, biomass and specific growth rate after 72 hours were 10, 10 and 32 mg/L. The corresponding LOEC values for yield, biomass and specific growth rate after 72 hours were 32, 32 and 100 mg/L.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- EC50 for freshwater algae:
- 100 mg/L
- EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
- 32 mg/L
Additional information
The acute toxicity of the test material to the freshwater alga was investigated in a study performed under GLP conditions in accordance to the standardised guideline OECD 201. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria for assessing data quality set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).
Based on the results of a range-finding test and an initial experiment, the definitive test was conducted at nominal test concentrations of 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32 and 100 mg/L Loading Rate Water Accommodated Fraction (LR WAF). A control group was also included.
Analytical chemistry was not performed during the definitive phase due to issues seen during media trial work and range-finder phases of the study. Following extensive evaluation, it was determined that chemical analysis would not be appropriate (based on preliminary testing) or result in reliable numbers for hazard assessment (not reliable or repeatable).
As chemistry analysis was not performed during the definitive phase, results were based on mg/L LR WAF. However, investigations into the water solubility of the test material was to be < 0.05 µg/mL. All validity criteria were met therefore the test was considered valid.
