OECD guideline studies testing the short term toxicity of the substance to representative organisms of three trophic levels (fish, aquatic invertebrates and unicellular algae) are available. An analytical monitoring verifying the substance during the test was included in all aquatic studies. The lowest acute effect value was determined for fish, concerning acute effects with an LC50 (96 h) of 10.1 mg/L (measured, geom. mean). EC50 values of > 1.2 mg/L and > 0.68 mg/L (representing the maximum test item concentrations achieved in solution) were identified for aquatic invertebrates and algae respectively. A chronic effect value is available only for algae. Long term biological effects were observed in this study resulting in a NOErC (72 h) of 0.21 mg/L (mean measured).

The endpoint `toxicity to microorganisms´ was covered by the toxicity control performed in the study testing the ready biodegradability of the substance. 49% biodegradation was identified within 14 d. Thus, the test item is not assumed to be inhibitory tosewage treatment plant microorganismsup to the tested concentration (NOEC (14 d) ≥36.1 mg/L).
