Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

L-histidine does not contain chemical groups that are associated with oxidising properties as described in ECHA's Guidance document R7.

As a consequence L-histidine can reasonably be assumed to not exert oxidising properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to ECHA's guidance on information requirements section R7.1.13, testing does not need to be conducted for organic substances if the substance contains oxygen, fluorine or chlorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon. Furthermore, L-histidine does not contain any of the chemical groups associated with oxidising properties as listed in table R.7.1-29. As a consequence, testing is deemed nor required.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the chemical structure of L-histidine, it can be reasonably assumed that the substance will not exert oxidising properties.
