Additional information

In the key study for skin irritation, three rabbits (strain and sex not reported) were given dermal applications of the test material 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate. The reaction was reported as slightly irritating. It is considered that the irritant potential of 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate may be low and, therefore, in addition, it is considered unlikely that 2 -ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate possesses any corrosive properties.

A supporting study was available in which human volunteer subjects were exposed to Santicizer 141 under occlusion. Sancticizer 141 was capable of eliciting visible skin changes consistent with the criteria deemed characteristic of a moderately severe primary irritant. However, as no test guideline has been followed and a deviant scoring system has been used in this skin test on 200 human volunteer subjects, an appropriate interpretation of the results cannot be made, and the information provided is too limited to draw a confident conclusion.

In the key study for eye irritation, conducted in accordance with a Draize design, 2 -ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate was applied undiluted to the eyes of three rabbits of unspecified strain. It was noted that slight irritation of the eye was found. It is considered that the irritant potential of 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate may be low and, therefore, in addition, it is considered unlikely that 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate possesses any corrosive properties.

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: slightly irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the available data, no conclusion can be drawn considering the classification for skin and eye irritation.
