Description of key information

On the basis of QSAR estimations for the components, "reaction mass of butane and butene" is harmful to fish.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since under environmental conditions the reaction mass consists of different gases distributing preferentially into the air, conducting a standard test on acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates is technically difficult. Therefore, the toxicity of the reaction mass was estimated by seperate QSAR calculations [ECOSAR v1.00 Classes] for the components. The LC50 values of the components calculated for fish range between 24.1 mg/L (butane, CAS 106 -97 -8) and 39.0 mg/L (1,3-butadiene, CAS 106-99-0).
