Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Because the viscosity at different shear rates did not vary more than +/- 0.2 mPas, the measurements were performed at a constant shear rate of 2000 l/s. The viscosity of tetrathydrothiophene was determined to be 1.60 mPas at 20 +/- 0.2°C and 1.29 mPas at 40 +/- 0.2°C at a constant shear rate of 2000 l/s.

Additional information

Fieseler (2009) is a GLP compliant, rotational viscometer study, which follows OECD 114. There were some deviations from protocol. Shear Rates were changed from 20 - 100 l/s to 1000 - 2000 l/s and 2000 l/s because the technical specification of the sensor system was adapted to the test item. This is not believed to have an effect on the study. The study can be considered reliable and suitable for this endpoint. This is supported by Lide (2009), which gives a viscosity of 0.973 mPa.
