Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
ErC50 (72 h) > 0.01 mg/l (calculated from the raw data)
EbC50 (72 h) = 0.0077 mg/l
NOEbC (72 h) = 0.0033 mg/l
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- EC50 for freshwater algae:
- 0.01 mg/L
- EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
- 0.003 mg/L
Additional information
No data is available for the assessment of the toxicity potential of the substance to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria. For this reason data on similar substances is used. Justification for Read Across is given in Section 13 of IUCLID.
The key study [Huntsman Textile Effects (Germany) GmbH, 1991] on Similar Substance 01 was performed according to the Official Journal of the European Communities, L 133, 30/05/1988 and under GLP conditions. Green Algae (Scenedesmus subspicatus) were exposed to five concentrations of the test material ranging from 0.000123 to 0.01 mg/l for 72 hours. Cell densities were measured at 24, 48, 72 hours and the EbC50 based on cell number was determined to be equal to 0.0077 mg/l whereas the NOEbC was equal to 0.0033 mg/l. From the raw data it was also calculated that the ErC50 based on growth rate was greater than 0.01 mg/l.
In one other study [Dystar, 1992] on a different similar substance, presenting a different salification from the Target Substance, performed according to DIN 38412, the EC50 based on biomass was determined to be 0.01 mg/l. The EC50 based on growth rate it was equal to 0.03 mg/l supporting the ErC50 determined in the study of Similar Substance 01.
