First-aid measures

General notes: Delayed effects can be expected after exposure. If unwell feeling, inflammation or irritation is observed, get medical advice. Protect injured person from environmental influence, if necessary – cover him. Care and appease injured person. In severe cases consult with the Centre of Poisoning and Drug Information, phone No. +371 67042473, emergency medical attention is required.
Following inhalation: If breathing, move injured person into fresh air, place in a comfortable position, give water to drink. If not breathing, perform resuscitation measures, including artificial respiration in ratio 30:2.
Following skin contact: Shed off the mixture and take off contaminated clothes and footwear. Rinse skin with a cool, running water at least for 20 minutes. Contaminated clothing and footwear should be laundered before reuse.
Following eye contact: Flush eyes with a cool, running water at least for 20 minutes. When flushing, keep eyes open. If injured person wears contact lenses, before flushing remove them out if it is easy to done without medical help. If after flushing visual impairment appears, dress both eyes with a dry bandage. Get medical advice.
Following ingestion: Rinse mouth with a water and give cool water up to 200 ml to drink. Do not induce vomiting! If not breathing, perform resuscitation measures, including artificial respiration in ratio 30:2.
Self-protection of the first aider: Protect yourself, when providing first aid! To decrease a risk of contamination with chemical substances or mixtures, it is advisable to use disposable gloves or other waterproof material products (eg, polyethylene bags). Making the “mouth to mouth” artificial respiration may be dangerous to first aid provider! It is advisable to use respiratory mask with one-way valve.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:
Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: none.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Emits corrosive smoke and toxic gases – carbon dioxide CO2, carbon monoxide CO, nitric oxides NOx and other pyrolysis products of organic substances.
Advice for fire fighters: Keep a safe distance from the fire. For firefighting use full fire fighter gear conforming to European standard EN469, including breathing apparatus conforming EU standards.

Accidental release measures

Protective equipment: Use appropriate protective equipment to avoid substance or its dust contact with skin, eyes, clothing or inhalation. Leave the area.
Emergency procedures: Prevent exposure of the substance with potential ignition sources (hot surfaces, electrical devices), ensure ventilation, evacuate vulnerable persons from the danger zone. Provide that the impact on the environment is minimized.
For emergency responders: To prevent substance or its dust contact with skin, eyes, clothing or inhalation, use appropriate protective equipment.
Environmental precautions. Do not let product enter drains.
For containment: Stop substance spillage.
For cleaning up: Mechanically collect spillage, excluding dust formation. Place collected waste in a suitable, labelled container and deliver it to company’s hazardous waste storage. Wash area with large amounts of water.
Substance spilled in soil sweep up with a broom or a vacuum pump and deliver to disposal in accordance with environmental protection requirements If large amount of substance is entered into soil in dissolved form, eg, during the rain, then topsoil must be withdrawn and delivered to disposal in accordance with environmental protection requirements. Replace excavated soil with the new one. Prevent substance from entering in watercourses.

Handling and storage

Protective measures: Avoid contact with substance, especially dust inhalation. Use individual protection equipment and work clothes.
Measures to prevent fire: During work, prevent substance from entering the high temperatures.
Measures to prevent aerosol and dust formation: Use in well-ventilated areas. Prevent substance dust formation in working area.
Prevention of incompatible substance or mixture use:
Advice on general occupational hygiene: Observe personal hygiene measures while working with a substance. Do not eat, drink and smoke in the working area. Wash hands before work breaks and at the end of working day. Before entering eating area take off individual protection equipment. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.
Protect from light and moisture. Exclude contact with incompatible substances. Keep storage containers tightly closed. Verify if all packages are labelled. Exclude physical damage of packages.
Packing materials: Polyethylene bag which is placed into polymer vat or other container with a tight-fitting and sealable cover.
Requirements for storage rooms: For quality assurance store in dry and dark place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls.
Do not allow high temperatures, use in areas with adequate ventilation. Keep storage containers tightly closed. Exclude substance dust formation and accumulation at workplace. Protect from moisture.
Appropriate engineering controls:
When using substance, choose working process organization, technologies and devices to eliminate or to reduce to a minimum substance leakage or impact on staff.
Organisational measures to prevent exposure: only trained and instructed staff could work with a substance.
Technical measures to prevent exposure: work on the ventilation switched on. Observe general device operation and substance production instructions/protocols.
Individual protection measure, such as personal protection equipment: if exposure can’t be removed, use individual protection equipment that are produced in accordance with EU standards and labelled with CE marking.
Eye/face protection – in laboratory, use chemically resistant googles. DO NOT USE contact lenses as they could cause an extra danger (absorb and concentrate irritant). Use only safe and tested eye protectors.
Skin protection – choose body protection according to the substance amount and concentration.
Hand protection – choosing appropriate protective gloves, take into consideration: duration of work, protective glove chemical resistance, protective glove thickness and quality. The duration of protective gloves depends on degree of wear. During removing gloves avoid contact with outer part.
Glove material: natural rubber, nitrile rubber, neoprene or polyvinyl chloride.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity. No dangerous reactions known.
Chemical stability. Stable under recommended storage conditions.
Possibility of hazardous reaction. Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions. Prevent contact with oxidizing and reducing substances, bases and acids.
Conditions to avoid. Heat, flame, spark, moisture.
Incompatible materials. Strong oxidizing and reducing substances, acids, bases.
Hazardous decomposition products. Do not decompose if mixture is used in accordance with the intended use.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods. Treat waste according to company’s internal documentation and Republic of Latvia environmental laws and regulations. Product/Packaging disposal: Discarded substance deliver to the company’s temporary waste storage facility. Keep substance label while it is not used, disposed or until the substance is in the package. Package should be discharged from the substance leftovers, washed and re-used.
Waste classification codes:
160508 – Discarded organic chemicals consisting of or containing hazardous substances.
150102 – Plastic packaging.
150107 - Glass packaging
