Description of key information

Case reports of acute exposures to methylpyridines suggest that it may result in dermal irritation and central nervous system and gastrointestinal effects.

Additional information

There is little data on exposures specifically and solely to 3-methylpyridine. Acute exposures to the picolines, in general, may give rise to flushing of the face, skin rash, an increase in heart and respiration rates, headache, giddiness, nausea and vomiting, ataxia and unconsciousness. Repeated exposures may result in weight loss, diarrhea, liver function test anomalies, polyneuritis and abnormalies of thermoregulation. These data come from case reports and observations, and no specific studies on effects of 3-methylpyridine are available.
