Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
4 September 1990
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point

The recorded temperatures are used to construct a temperature time curve. Up to the upper limit of the melting point no significant deviation of the two temperature curves was observed. The test substance was totally melted and was flown through the mesh by the end of the test .

Conclusions:
The substance has no relative self-ignition temperature up to the melting point.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Part A A.16 to determine the relative self-ignition temperature of the test substance. A homogeneous sample was transferred into a cube. The cube was tapped gently and additional sample was filled into the cube. The sample was placed into the centre of the oven and two thermocouples were fixed. The oven was started with a temperature increasing rate of 0.47°C/min. The test ended at a temperature of 60°C and was performed one time. The recorded temperatures are used to construct a temperature time curve. Up to the upper limit of the melting point no significant deviation of the two temperature curves was observed. The test substance was totally melted and was flown through the mesh by the end of the test. Thus, the substance has no relative self-ignition temperature up to the melting point.

Description of key information
