A test was conducted to determine the effects of the test material on microorganisms by measuring the respiration rate under defined conditions in the presence of varying concentrations of the test substance. The microbial inoculum was exposed to nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 13, 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg whole product/L.
The results of this test showed that the respiration rates of the two control flasks were within 15% of the mean respiration rate which satisfies the criteria for acceptability outlined in the test guideline concerning data from the control flasks.
The test substance showed 5.7, 42.7, 64.0, and 80.6% inhibition at test concentrations of 13, 50, 100, and 200 mg whole product/L. The 25 mg/L sample was omitted due to technical error. The EC50for the test material was estimated to be 63.5 mg whole product/L.
