Description of key information

Appearance:

On the basis of physical observation and using the sense of smell, 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid was observed to be a solid white powder.

Melting point:

The melting point determination of Test item 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-43-7 ) was done as per the test guideline OECD 102. The method followed was according to Capillary/metal block. The Mean Melting Temperature Range was determine to be 290-295.1°C at 963.8 hPa.

Boiling Point:

The boiling point determination of Test item 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-43-7 ) was done as per the test guideline OECD 103. The method followed was according to Siwoloboff. The test item melts above 290 deg C , hence the boiling point could not be determined.

Density:

The density of Test item 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-43-7 ) was determined following OECD guideline 109 and according to the method recommended in the International Pharmacopoeia, fourth Edition, 2014. The pour

density and tapped density of the test item was determine to be 0.4349 g/cm³ and 0.6669 g/cm³ at 25.3°C and 961.95 hPa.

Particle size distribution:

The particle size distribution of test item 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-43-7 ) was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determine to bein the range of 150 micron to 106 micron.

Vapour pressure:

The estimated vapour pressure of 5 -amino-2-chlorobenzenesulfonic acid at 25 deg C was 0.0000058 Pa

Partition coefficient:

The Partition coefficient (POw) on soil and on sewage sludge of the 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-43-7) was determine to be 0.056±0.129 at 25 °C.

Water solubility:

The water solubility determination of test item 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-43-7) was done as per the OECD guideline 105 byspectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of (5 -amino-2 - chlorobenzenesulphonic acid of 88 -43 -7 )in water was found to be 3656.1 mg/L at 25°C. Thus 5 -amino-2 -chlorobenzenesulphonic acid is considered to be soluble in water.

Surface tension:

Surface tension of 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulfonic acid from above authorative database is predicted to be 69.7 mN/m.

Flash point:

The flash point determination of Test item 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-43-7 )was done. The method was closed cup method using Pensky-Martens Flash Point Apparatus. The mean flash point of the test item was determine to be 161.3°C at 964.8 hPa.

Based on the various observations test chemical 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulfonic acid physically appear in solid state which are in crystalline white needles form. From the other reliable source it is concluded that 5 -amino-2 -chlorobenzenesulfonic acid is physically appear to be a solid powder form which is white to gray in colour.

For the Pow estimation, the different volumes of a stock solution (noctanol pre saturated with water) were shaken with different volume of water pre saturated with n-octanol. After centrifugation, both the aqueous phase and octanol phase were analysed by HPLC. The partition coefficient were calculated, from the measured concentration of 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid(CAS No.88-43-7) in the organic and aqueous phases. The log Pow value was found to be 0.056±0.129 at 25 °C

By considering this log Pow value it can be concluded that 5-amino-2-chlorobenzenesulphonic acid (CAS No. 88-43-7) is hydrophilic in nature and it is also supported by high water solubility of test chemical in water.

Based on the available data from authoritative databases and handbook, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance 5 -amino-2 -chlorobenzenesulfonic acid was estimated to be -1.44. Based on the estimated value, the chemical 5 -amino-2 -chlorobenzenesulfonic acid can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.
