Additional information

Ethylene glycol hexyl ether is readily biodegradable (100% mineralisation, CO2 evolution) and mineralisation will be the dominant route of elimination in natural waters. Hydrolysis of the ether group is minimal and irrelevant when compared to biological degrdation. Testing for hydrolysis is therefore not indicated. In the atmosphere Ethylene glycol hexyl ether will react with hydroxyl radicals with an elimination half-life of approx 14.6 hours.
