Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
09 Nov 2000 to 15 Mar 2000
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 121 (Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (Koc) on Soil and on Sewage Sludge using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC))
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Chemicals injected onto such a column move along it by partitioning between the mobile phase and the stationary phase. The velocity of each component thereby depends on the degree of adsorption on the stationaiy phase. The dual nature of the stationary phase allows for interaction of polar and apolar parts of a molecule in a similar way as is the case for soil. This enables the relationship between the retention time on such a column and the adsorption coefficient on the organic parts of the soil to be established.
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
HPLC estimation method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
off white solid; 99.95% purity
Radiolabelling:
no
Test temperature:
25 degree C
Details on study design: HPLC method:
A solution of BMS 233101-01 (120 mg/1 in HPLC mobile phase) was prepared and chromatographed in duplicate, bracketed by samples of the reference mixture. The test was conducted at both pH 4 and pH 9 thus covering the range of environmental significant pH values. Mobile phase composition:Methanol pH 4 buffer (55:45 v/v), Flow rate 1ml/min, injection vol 10ul,. The pH 9 test was conducted identically, with the exception that the mobile phase employed was
methanol :pH 9 buffer (55:45 v/v). Internal deadtime standard: Formamide

Details on results (HPLC method):
Log Koc value of 4.2 was determined at pH 4 and 9. Thus, the log Koc value for BMS 233101-01 was determined to be unchanged over the range of environmentally significant pH values.
Transformation products:

Conclusions:
BMS 233101-01 was found to have a log Koc value of 4.2.
