Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are two studies available for the C20-24 sodium sulfonate (Benzenesulfonic acid, mono-C20-24 (even)-sec-alkyl derivs., para-, sodium salts) determining the vapour pressure of the substance.

In the key study (Tremain, 2015c), the vapour pressure of the substance has been determined at four temperatures, using the vapour pressure balance method designed to be compatible with OECD Guideline 104 and EU Method A.4 in compliance with GLP. A preliminary run to provide additional information was performed which covered the temperature range 20 to 84 °C in 1 °C steps. Four definitive sequences of runs were performed at 25, 40, 70 and 150 °C with a fresh sample of test item each time. The test item was initially held under low vacuum for approximately 3/4 hour and high vacuum for approximately 4, 20, 30, and 30 minutes for the four temperatures respectively.

As final results, the following vapour pressures have been determined:

25°C: 0.0259 Pa

40°C: 0.0658 Pa

70°C: 0.656 Pa

150°C: 23.2 Pa

In the supporting study (Tremain, 2015d), the vapour pressure of the substance has also been determined at four temperatures, using the vapour pressure balance method designed to be compatible with OECD Guideline 104 and EU Method A.4 in compliance with GLP. A preliminary run to provide additional information was performed which covered the temperature range 20 to 103 °C in 1 °C steps. Four definitive sequences of runs were performed at 25, 40, 70 and 150 °C with a fresh sample of test item each time. The test item was initially held under low vacuum for approximately 40 minutes (minimum of 25 min for the determination at 150°C) and high vacuum for approximately 18, 22, 20, and 16 minutes for the four temperatures respectively. As final results, the following vapour pressures have been determined:

25°C: 0.0294 Pa

40°C: 0.0595 Pa

70°C: 0.168 Pa

150°C: 21.4 Pa
