The flash point of 98.8°C was determined with the use of a rapid equilibrium closed-cup method in accordance with ASTM-D93. The result is considered to be reliable and is selected as key study.
A flash point value of 98.75°C and boiling point of 212°C indicate that nonan-1-ol should not be classified for flammability in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
Discussion of trends in the Category of C6-24 linear and essentially-linear aliphatic alcohols:
The flash point of Category substances follow a predictable trend of increasing flash point temperature with increasing chain length together with increasing boiling point and decreasing vapour pressure.
