- Executive summary:
In an open epicutaneous test, solutions of trichloro(vinyl)silane (0.02 -0.08% in toluene) were applied to the skin of ten workers in the optical glass industry for 24 -48 hours; control tests were conducted with the vehicle. Workers had been occupationally exposed (handling of 0.02 -0.08% solutions of trichlorovinylsilane in toluene and additionally with solutions of mercury acetate in methanol) for approximately five years before testing. Under the conditions of this study the test substance was not a skin sensitiser.
