A study was conducted to determine the short-term toxicity of the read across substance, phosphoric acid, mono- and di-C16-18 (even numbered) alkyl esters (i.e., mono- and di- C16 -18 PSE), to fish according OECD guideline 203 and EU Method C.1, in compliance with GLP. Danio rerio (Zebra fish) were exposed to water accommodated fractions (WAF) of test substance at nominal loading rates of 0 (control) and 200 mg/L for 96 h under static conditions. The WAF and the control were analytically verified by spectrophotometric analysis for the total phosphor content at the start and end of experiment. The measured test substance concentrations were determined to be 16.6 mg and 16 mg PO4/L respectively at start and end of the experiment. Therefore, the reported biological results were based on the loading rate of the test substance. No mortalities or symptoms (visible abnormalities) were observed during the test. Under the study conditions, the 96h LC50 and NOEC (Danio rerio) were determined to be > 200 and 200 mg a.i./L, respectively (Eckenstein, 2013).
