Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Dry powder

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Foam

Water spray

Aqueous film forming foam (AFFF).

Water mist

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water spray jet

Hazardous combustion products: Carbon oxides, Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Special protective equipment for firefighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Avoid dust formation.

Avoid breathing dust.

Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Environmental precautions:

Should not be released into the environment.

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Methods for cleaning up:

Large spills: Sweep up or vacuum with HEPA filter or via wet cleaning into suitable containers for disposal.

Pick up and arrange without creating dust. Keep in properly labelled containers.

Small spills: Moisten a towel, cover the spill, pick up the spill or use HEPA vacuum.

Large spills + Small spills: Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:

Ensure all equipment is electrically grounded before beginning transfer operations.

Avoid formation of dust and aerosols.

Avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin and eyes.

Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Avoid dust formation.

Hygiene measures: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Store in original container. To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sunlight.

Recommended storage temperature: 15 - 25 °C

Specific use(s): Consult the technical guidelines for the use of this substance/mixture.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Engineering measures

All personal protective equipment should be based on a risk assessment. Consult a Environment Health Safety expert if necessary.

Engineering controls should be used as the primary means to control possible exposures. Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep exposure levels below recommended exposure limits.

Personal protective equipment

Eye protection: Safety glasses with side-shields

Hand protection:Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact). Impervious gloves, Nitrile rubber

Skin and body protection: closed work clothing

Respiratory protection:

Engineering controls should always be the primary method of controlling exposures.

If respiratory protective equipment is needed for certain activities, the type as well as the corresponding protection factor will depend upon the risk assessment and air concentrations, hazards, physical and warning properties of substances present.

Use only respiratory protection that conforms to international/ national standards.

No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required.

Protective measures:

The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

The type of protective equipment must be selected based on the Environmental Health and Safety risk assessment. Consult a Environmental Health and Safety expert if necessary.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate.
