There is one study available which assessed the short-term toxicity of (Z)-N-methyl-N-(1-oxo-9-octadecenyl)glycine, compound with 2,2',2''-nitrilotri(ethanol) (1:1) (CAS 17736-08-2) to aquatic invertebrates according to the OECD guideline 202 and GLP.
In a static test, Daphnia magna was exposed to five WAFs with nominal loading rates of 0.10, 0.32, 1.0, 3.2, and 10 mg a.i./L for 48 h. All test solutions were clear and. Test item concentrations were analytically verified by UPLC at the start (0 h) and at the end of the test (48 h).
The measured test item concentrations at the start of the test were 0.066, 0.27, 0.98, 2.3 and 6.7 mg a.i./L in the WAFs prepared at 0.10, 0.32, 1.0, 3.2 and 10 mg ai.i./L, respectively. The highest four concentrations (10, 3.2, 1.0 and 0.32 mg/L) decreased to 39 – 85% of the initial concentrations by the end of the test at 48 h. The lowest concentration (0.10 mg/L) decreased below the LOQ. Therefore, the exposure concentrations were expressed as geometric means of the measured concentrations, assuming the calculated values 0.026, 0.23, 0.61, 2.1 and 5.2 mg a.i./L.
After 48 h ≥ 60% of the daphnia exposed to the test item concentrations of 0.61 mg a.i./L and higher were immobilized, resulting in an EC50 (48 h) of 0.588 mg a.i./L (geometric mean measured).
