Under environmental conditions, the test substance exists exclusively as a gas. Based on its physico-chemical properties, when released to the environment it will partition primarily into the air compartment and consequently surface water, soil and sediment are not environmentally relevant compartments. The test substance does not undergo appreciable biodegradation and does not hydrolyze. Vapor-phase test substance is degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals with a lifetime of 1.4 years (OECD SIDS, 2006). The atmospheric lifetime of this chemical suggests that it will mix throughout the troposphere. With a global warming potential (GWP) of 140 relative to CO2, the test substance has a low potential contribution to global warming. In addition, some test substance is expected to diffuse into the stratosphere and slowly degrade due to reaction with hydroxyl radicals and direct photolysis from UV-C radiation. The ozone depletion potential (ODP) of the test substance has been determined to be negligible (OECD SIDS, 2006).
